meet ice bear! he's my pal from bavaria and he's offered to teach me the art of coloring easter eggs with natural dyes.
as you see, he's gather up onion peels, peppermint and fruit tea, and a beetroot to make our dyes.
a dash of vinegar, a splash of boiling water over our ingredients and good steep and our natural dyes are ready! what egg wouldn't want to take a dip?
look at how beautiful out eggs are after some rest and relaxation i the they dyes. let's admire the deep blue of the fruit tea, the pale yellow from curry, the deep orange of the onion peel, the plum color from the beet root and the pale spring green from the peppermint tea. (check out the eggs close up!)
while many polar bears are not interested in arts and crafts, ice bear shows talent when making these lovely dye resist eggs. (find out how)
after fun day of egg dying, ice bear took me to midnight mass. we each carried out little baskets holding an egg, a slice of ham, a slice of special easter bread and a candle. it was nice of the priest to bless our goodies we each got to light our candles and carry them home to illuminate our tasty easter breakfast. |
