my pal lora took me on an epic adventure on the loneliest highway in america. can you guess where we are?
our sojourn starts off with flurry of excitement as we visit the shoe tree! with all the manufactured shoes in the world, wild freshly grown shoes are quite a find! i pick a nice pair of classic black leather pumps with a little heel to give me height and lori goes with a comfortable and fashionable mary jane's.
the last thing the world needs in another glossy periodical devoted to cosmetics, so, i was not excited about visiting this powder magazine in austin. i was thrilled to find out that this was really an explosives magazine in this 1860's mining town that is knows for some pretty spiffy mountain bikes races in the summer months.
as i walk this isolated and lonely stretch of highway 50 i feel just like a character in a tom waits tune or a twilight zone episode.
i was surprised to see some of the original graffiti at the pony express stop.
time to rest and relax in the jury box at the eureka county court house. the verdict? i had a great time in utah with lora and her traveling companions! |
