the subject is pandas!

lounging in a cool bamboo garden is the perfect place to read about the national zoo's youngest panda, tai shun. born in 2005 the world has watched him grow up on the panda cam, so, it's only natural that this book is called "panda cam".

i love all the snapshots from tai's family scrap book accompanied by interesting tidbits and musings from the panda care team makes this a fun to read and personal account of the beginning of a panda's life.

`

like most pandas, tai shan is extra charming in action, so, this book cleverly includes a "flip book" movie of him rolling down a hill.

quiet time in the afternoon or as i snuggle into bed at night is when i like to read "zen shorts."

not to be confused with taoist capris.

stillwater is a thoughtful panda and delightful raconteur that anyone would enjoy as a friend.

i can't help but admire his fashion sense and good grooming.

when i'm in a mature mood, i dig into a fascinating history of ruth harkness, the first explorer to take a live panda out of china in the 1930's.

"the lady and the panda" brings to life a bygone era when exotic animals were seen by few and a baby panda could stay at the best hotel in chicago.
